Kovalchuk Deal Finally Approved

-It looks like the Ilya Kovalchuk filled summer has come to an end. After getting a contract rejected by the NHL in mid-July, Kovalchuk was forced to re-negotiate with the New Jersey Devils. He could have negotiated with other teams as well, but he chose to stick with New Jersey. The deal he signed yesterday is reportedly worth $100 million over 15 years. $90 million of the $100 million will be made in the first 10 years of the contract. The rest will be made the last five years, which would take Kovalchuk to age 42. Who would have thought Kovalchuk would be on the market for a little over two months? I certainly did not, but I am glad it is over. The NHL also announced that they will no longer investigate the contracts of Marian Hossa, Roberto Luongo, Marc Savard, and Chris Pronger.
