Penguins Interested in Ray Whitney?

-According to TIOPS, GM Ray Shero and Carolina Hurricanes GM Jim Rutherford have held discussions regarding the rights to UFA Ray Whitney. Pittsburgh was interested in Whitney at the trade deadline, but the price was way too high. Whitney scored 21 goals this past season and recorded 58 points. The Hurricanes are likely going to let him at least test free agency because he is now 38 years old. He is looking for job security in what could be his final season in the NHL this season. He wants to play for a contender, which makes the Penguins a good fit. Whitney made $3.55 million this past season.
