-According to TIOPS, the Penguins will likely have a lot of interest in D Zbynek Michalek when and if he hits the free agent market on July 1st. Michalek, 27, led the NHL in blocked shots in the 2008-09 season. He is a defenseman that Pittsburgh will need to upgrade their defense, which struggled this year in the playoffs. He was an alternate captain with the Phoenix Coyotes. He finished the season with three goals and fourteen assists.
